Description
International PhD Autumn School 2026 Towards More Accessible Cities
TRAIL research school and Graduate School NETHUR organize an international PhD Autumn School titled ‘Towards More Accessible Cities’.
It is offered to all PhD students, and professionals, involved in research on urban accessibility with a focus on transport, land-use, and digital integration within cities or those who are interested in exploring these topics. The multidisciplinary program offers interactive sessions, lectures by leading experts, and networking opportunities in the field of accessible cities.
Accessibility is the core of the transport system. In this Autumn School we provide theoretical and practical insights into how integrating transport, land-use, and digital systems within cities can improve accessibility. The newest scientific ideas about what accessibility is, how it relates to the 15-minute city concept, and how to measure it will be explained. We include lessons on the role of digital accessibility, the importance of perceived accessibility and how to reach accessibility for all groups in society (such as children). Finally, we address the governance and future planning of improving accessibility in cities. We do this by using serious gaming and by discussing real-world policy issues in accessibility planning with policymakers.
The Autumn School aims to provide theoretical guidance and methods for more effective evaluation and understanding of accessibility in cities. It offers PhD students, and professionals, a multidisciplinary basis with regard to current research approaches, so that you can build on this in your own research.
