Scientific Mission

NETHUR’s mission is to promote and support urban and regional research of a high international scientific standard in the Netherlands. This research generates scientific knowledge that increases understanding and supports governance of urban and regional dynamics.

To this end, the Graduate School develops a focused strategy which is guiding for an education and supervision programme to attain that PhD candidates of NETHUR institutes become qualified independent researchers in urban and regional research.

NETHUR’s core business is urban and regional research within the social, economic and technical sciences. The Gradudate school combines in its programme theoretical, methodological and thematic research of a fundamental and/or strategic character. NETHUR aims to contribute to state-of-the art international scientific knowledge and to strategic joint programmes with leading national, European and other international partners. Where relevant, NETHUR will represents its research groups in national and international scientific organisations and in external strategic research programmes.
